George Edward Jones, age 90, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He loved his church and served as head elder for many years along with teaching and serving in many other capacities. He was a soft spoken, loving, gentle and kind person who accepted everyone with a smile and a hug. He began his career with Jeffery Chain in Columbus, OH and retired from the same company 48 years later in Morristown, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley Jones and Helen Heizer; brother, Jerry Jones; sister, Carol Ann Steadman; and two sons, Bradley Alan Jones and Byron Evan Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Patty Jones; daughter, Deborah Sue Ratcliff (John); son, Kent Alan Jones; eight grandchildren, Jimmie, Kristin, Stuart, Jessica, Laura, Cassie, Meghan, and Nora; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Interment will follow at Jarnigan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Morristown Seventh-day Adventist Church in his honor.
